Airdrie at a glance
The site is at Lady Ann Crescent on the south side of Airdrie, postcode ML6 9RY. It is one of North Lanarkshire's six recycling centres and the one serving Airdrie, Plains, Caldercruix and Chapelhall.
Hours are the council's standard: 7am to 6pm Monday to Saturday and 7am to 5.30pm on Sunday, all year. Last entry is ten minutes before closing and the gate staff do enforce it. The early opening is useful; it is one of the few sites in the west where you can tip before work.
It closes now and again for works. It was shut for two days in early September 2026 for improvements, so check the council's page before you load the car.

ID, the twelve-visit limit and vans
A car can turn up without a booking, which is easier than South Lanarkshire next door. But you must bring photo identification and proof of your address, because the site is for North Lanarkshire residents and that is how it is checked. Turning up with neither is the most common reason for being refused.
Each household gets twelve visits per financial year, April to March. That sounds like plenty until a garden project, a loft clear-out and a kitchen refit land in the same summer. Once they are gone, they are gone until April.
Vans and single-axle trailers must book at least a day in advance through the council's online booking, and the last van slot is earlier than closing: 4.30pm Monday to Saturday and 4pm on Sunday. Trailers must be single-axle and under 1.8 metres. Bookings are not taken at the gate. The full council picture is in North Lanarkshire recycling centres.
Used your twelve visits already?
We have no limit. A quarter load is £160 + VAT, loaded by us, usually next day.
What Airdrie takes
Glass, cans, engine oil, car batteries, textiles and shoes, wood, rubble, flattened plastic bottles, garden waste, cardboard, paper, electrical equipment, fridges and fridge-freezers, vapes, fluorescent tubes and low-energy bulbs, and bicycles.
Vapes and batteries have their own container and it matters that they go in it: a lithium battery crushed in a skip or a bin lorry starts a fire, which is why batteries and vapes are setting Scottish bin lorries alight. Old sofas and armchairs are handled separately under the upholstered seating rules.
Trade waste is refused, and the council warns that anything dumped outside the gates is treated as fly-tipping with a fixed penalty. Do not leave it at the fence when the site is shut.
When to call us instead
The tip is free and right for a boot-load, and we would rather say so. It is the wrong tool once you would need several trips, once the visits are used up, once the load needs a van and you have missed the booking window, or once it is a sofa, a bed or a fridge-freezer that will not go in a car.
We collect across Airdrie with no ID check, no visit limit, no booking and no lifting on your part. A quarter load is £160 + VAT with the carrying included, and every job has a transfer note under our SEPA registration, WCR/R/3002381.
